Police appeal for witnesses after fatal crash on A1 at Wansford

Police have launched an appeal following the crash which resulted in the death of a man on the A1 yesterday (Monday).

The man, who was aged in his 50s and was from County Durham, died when the Audi A5 he was driving collided with a stationary lorry on the A1 (M) northbound near Wansford.

The crash happened at a lay-by at about 3.45pm.

Two passengers, woman in front and man in back, both suffered minor injuries but were taken to Peterborough City Hospital and kept in overnight to be monitored. Discharged this morning. The road was closed for more than three hours until 7,15pm while emergency services worked at the scene.

Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call Cambridgeshire police on 101.
