New electric charging car charging site planned at Peterborough petrol station

A series of new electric vehicle charging points have been planned at a petrol station in Peterborough.

A new site to charge electric cars has been planned at the Woodston Service Station on Oundle Road.

A planning application has been submitted by the Motor Fuel Group, which operates the station, to demolish the existing plant room and jet wash to create six new electric car charging points.

A new canopy and associated forecourt works would also be required at the petrol station that is located on a The application states: junction to the south of Oundle Road and west of Bakers Lane.

The application states: “As part of the Net Zero strategy, the UK Government have placed a new emphasis on electric vehicle charging infrastructure in the UK. As part of this drive, it is essential that there is a comprehensive and competitive EV charging network in place.

“The proposals would contribute positively to the existing EV charging network, to the benefit of those utilising the strategic highway network surrounding the application site.

"The proposals will enhance the existing offer at the service station, without compromising the efficient operation of the facility.

"In terms of design, the proposed EV charging area has been carefully planned to positively integrate

with the existing service station operation. The charging facility offers a modern design approach, which

is uncluttered and fit for purpose.”

The application will now be considered by planning officers at Peterborough City Council. It can be viewed on the council’s planning portal using reference 22/01505/FUL.
