Giving an update on how works have progressed so far, county council leader Cllr Steve Count said last week: “I’m pleased to say more than 50 per cent of the ground improvement work to the west of the railway has been completed.

“Work to construct the embankment above the ground is well underway and the main compound cabins, which will be located to the east of the railway, are due to be delivered next week – these will house our contractor Jones Bros Careers.

“And for anyone wondering what are the pieces of plastic material coming out of the ground? They are pre-fabricated vertical drains to assist with ground improvement works.

“Our workforce are Covid-19 aware, make sure you keep yourselves safe as well.”
