Therefore, the road will be closed from 7am on Thursday, April 2 for a fortnight to coincide with the Easter holidays.

Moreover, Cambridgeshire County Council is using the closure to begin an eight week period of roadworks in the area.

The scheme, which will see temporary traffic lights installed, is for preparatory works for the new bridge over the rail line which is due to begin being constructed later this year once the contract for the works is awarded.

The council had initially awarded the project to Kier, but the contract was cancelled after costs escalated from £13.6 million to more than £38 million.

Pedestrians will be able to access homes and buildings during the road closure, while a signed diversion will also be in place.
