Meanwhile, there are very long delays on Oundle Road in Woodston and Orton Longueville after a person suffered a medical episode.

Months of roadworks on Oundle Road have also just begun.

Temporary traffic lights will be in place from 9.30am to 3.30pm from the start of the scheme until it ends in the autumn.

Roadworks will affect Oundle Road (A605) between the Lynch Wood roundabout and the junction to Alwalton village, although Peterborough City Council said it will “endeavour to maintain two-way traffic flows”.

Cambridgeshire County Council’s Highways Service is also reporting that there are more than three miles of queues on the A47 from Thorney heading into Peterborough.

A new lane closure is in place at Rhubarb Bridge for four weeks from today.

Drivers travelling west into the city centre across Junction 18 of the A47/A15 near Brotherhood Shopping Park will see the carriageway reduced to one lane.

Gas distribution network Cadent is also carrying out works between the roundabout at the entrance to Eye village and the Eye Roundabout, although not in the opposite direction.

A lane closure is in place 24/7 for three weeks beginning from today.
