Temporary lighting installed on Bretton Way after serious power fault

Street lighting on a section of Bretton Way is currently not operational between Junction 17 where the A47 meets Gresley Way, and Junction 58, Norburn roundabout.

Investigation works have traced this to a serious fault with the underground cabling. The cabling has reached the end of its service life and is now irreparable.

Peterborough Highway Services has commissioned a new lighting design to include the provision of new cabling, columns and lights. The process will commence at Junction 17 and the upgrade will take place in sections.

Andy Tatt, Head of Peterborough Highway Services for Peterborough City Council, said: “While the design process is being carried out we are installing a semi-permanent solution to provide lights at each of the four bus stop locations affected by the fault.

“We would like to apologise for the inconvenience caused by the lack of lights and thank residents for their patience while we address the problem.”

Completing the necessary design work is likely to take a number of months, and installation is expected to begin in late Spring 2016.
