Queues of over an hour on A14 at Huntingdon after several vehicles experience tyre damage due to potholes

Motorists on the A14 are being warned to take care after several vehicles have experienced tyre damage due to potholes on the road this morning, Tuesday February 7.

Potholes on the westbound carriageway are causing damage to several vehicles which have pulled over onto the lay by area of the A14 near Spittals Roundabout in Huntingdon.

One lane is also blocked due to the poor condition of the road and a vehicle which has experienced tyre damage on the A14 Westbound between J24 A1198 and J23 A141. Lane one of two is closed to allow for emergency repairs and queues are back to J29 at Oakington.

A police spokesman said: “We were called today at 7.38am to reports of a broken down vehicle on the A14, WBC at J23, between Godmanchester and the Spittals interchange.

“It was reported that it may be related to a large pothole.

“There have been several reports of blown out tyres this morning on the A14.

“Highways are dealing.”

UPDATE: The road has been cleared as of 4.15pm, although motorists can expect residual delays.
