Lorry driver, who was father of two, killed in collision at Peterborough Service Station

The tragic incident happened at lunch time on Tuesday in the lorry park at the services, just off the A1.

The lorry driver has not yet been formally identified by police, but his friends told the Peterborough Telegraph he was a French International lorry driver and leaves a wife and two daughters. A police spokesman said the man’s next of kin had been informed.

Emergency services including the Magpas air ambulance were called to the services at 1.40pm following the incident.

However, despite the best efforts of paramedics, the man died at the scene from the injuries he suffered.

The lorry park was closed while emergency services carried out investigations at the scene, however cars and vans were able to access the services.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said: “We were called at 1.40pm to Peterborough Services Truck Pumps, Peterborough Road, Haddon, to a road traffic collision.

“An ambulance, rapid response vehicle, ambulance officer and the Magpas air ambulance attended the scene along with police and fire crews.

“The collision involved a lorry and a man.

“Sadly the patient died at the scene.”
