A1(M) closed southbound at Huntingdon following multi-vehicle collision

Motorists are facing long delays on the A1(M) after a collision near the Huntingdon junction shut the southbound carriageway.

The crash happened at 8.30am and involved a four vehicles, one of which was a lorry.

The delays have been made worse as extensive roadworks are taking place on the same stretch of road. Queues are stretching back to the Norman Cross junction.

The air ambulance is currently at the scene. There is no information on how serious the injuries are, but an East of England Ambulance Service spokesman said there were two patients being treated.

A number of fire engines are also at the scene.

It is not known how long the road will be shut for but police have said extensive investigative work will be carried out.
