Virtual Peterborough council hustings to encourage EU citizens to vote

A virtual hustings is being held next week ahead of the Peterborough City Council elections on May 6.

Tuesday’s event has been organised by the3milion, a grassroots organisation campaigning to mobilise EU citizens in the UK who have the right to vote in the local elections.

The hustings is aimed at EU citizens but is open to all.

The confirmed speakers are: Amjad Iqbal (Labour), Wayne Fitzgerald (Conservative), Nicola Day (Green Party) and Simon Kail (Liberal Democrat).

The hustings is being held on Tuesday, March 30 from 5pm to 6pm via Zoom.

It will also be live-streamed on the Facebook page of the3million.

May’s elections will see 23 of the 60 seats at the council being contested. The Conservatives are currently in control at the Town Hall but do not have a majority of councillors.
