Pam Kreling was on the council for 18 years from 1997 until 2014, representing Park Ward.

She passed away earlier this week.

Today former Park Ward councillor John Peach, who worked with Pam throughout her time on the council paid his tributes to Pam.

He said: "Pam was a very hard worker on behalf of the community. She would not let anything go - she would always chase council officers up. She would not stand for any nonsense.

"Even a year ago she was out delivering the Christmas news letter.

"I have been keeping my eye on er and doing her shopping for a while."

John said Pam, a mother of two grown up sons, had suffered a fall over the Christmas period.

Peterborough MP Paul Bristow added his tributes on Twitter, saying he had first met Pam 25 years ago.

He said: "Pam Kreling was a hard working and dedicated councillor for Park Ward, serving the City for nearly 20 years.

"She served as the Secretary of the Conservative Group on the City council for most of her time as a councillor. She was a stalwart of the local Party working all hours to support the cause right up until the end of her life.

"Supporters and opponents alike will remember her as courteous and well respected local campaigner. She will be sorely missed by everyone in the Peterborough Conservatives and by the many local residents of Park Ward abs Millfield who she served so diligently."

Pam, who worked as a teacher in her earlier life and also volunteered at St Paul's church, was named as an Honorary Alderman of Peterborough in 2015, a year after leaving the council.
