Peterborough MP Stewart Jackson promises to hold Theresa May to account
It was confirmed earlier today Mrs May would become the new leader of the Conservative party - and therefore Prime Minister - after her leadership rival Andrea Leadsom pulled out of the leadership contest.
Mr Jackson, who had backed Mrs Leadsom’s campaign, said he believed Mrs May would do a good job as Prime Minister.

“She is certainly well qualified, experienced and will provide the stability that the country needs in the next few turbulent months.
“I’m of course proud that my party has elected a second woman Leader and Prime Minister.
“I take in good faith and trust her promise that Brexit means Brexit and I and many others in Parliament will be making sure that we hold her to account on keeping faith with the many people locally and nationally who voted to leave the EU.”
