PayByPhone will replace RingGo as the mobile parking payment provider in the city, Peterborough City Council has revealed.

The authority said: “PayByPhone mobile parking payment facilities will be available in 3,624 parking spaces at 31 on and off-street locations across the city.

“You can download the PayByPhone app from the App Store or Google Play Store or visit the PayByPhone website for more information.”

The news comes on the same week that the council announced all tariffs will increase by 50p at city car parks, while fees for resident and visitor permits will also increase.

It is hoped the move will make the cash-strapped authority more than £300,000 a year, with a third of that spent on paying for more wardens in the city and the rest used to help plug a multi-million pound deficit.
