New move to open 10 pin bowling alley and games hub at Peterborough's Queensgate Shopping Centre
New plans are being drawn up to create a 10 pin bowling venue in Peterborough’s Queensgate Shopping Centre.
Operator Tenpin, which already has alleys in Cambridge and Northampton, has applied for a premises licence to play music and films at its proposed venue at the Queensgate.
The new attraction will be located in Unit 2 on the lower level of the shopping centre.
According to a design for the 2,138 square metres alley, which has been submitted with the licensing application, it is intended that the venue will feature 20 bowling lanes.

It is also intended to have two areas within the venue for karaoke events, seven pool tables plus darts boards and a separate games area for table tennis and arcade games. There will also be a bar plus food tables as well as a reception area and toilets.
According to the licensing application, which has been submitted by Georgica Ltd, of Bedford, it is intended that the venue will be open from 10am to 1am from Sundays to Thursdays and from 10am to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
The application requests the licence should start as soon as possible and also states: “The applicant is an experienced national licensed operator with numerous venues across the country and is looking to trade the unit as Tenpin, a bowling and multiuse family entertainment leisure venue which will provide a range of indoor sport and recreation uses including bowling, pool, darts, karaoke and arcade games.
Details of the application come a year after a building control application was submitted to create a bowling centre on the ground floor of the centre’s Upper Mall, which would also include installing a laser tag area.
The application was submitted to Peterborough City Council by Turton Building Control.
It is hoped the new attraction will enhance Queensgate’s leisure offer and comes after the opening of the eight screen Odeon Luxe Cinema and the Putt and Play mini golf centre, which is run by Hollywood Bowl as well as the recent opening of the Amir Khan Boxing Academy.
It will be another major boost for the centre following the opening of retail giant Frasers and its popular brands, Flannels, Sports Direct, USC and Game late last year.
