Group Leader Nick Sandford (Liberal Democrats)We’ve been working really hard primarily, in my case, in my ward of Paston & Walton where things are looking quite encouraging but when you’re working so hard in your own area you don’t get much idea about what’s happening across the rest of Peterborough.
I’m picking up indications that the Conservatives haven’t done very well but that might just be a reflection of the national picture - but we’re expecting two really hard contests in Fletton Stanground where there’s two Liberal Democrats candidates and also in Gunthorpe, although I’ve just heard some quite encouraging news that Gunthorpe may be slightly in our favour.
The overall voter turnout for Peterborough City Council Local Elections 2022 has been 30% today and 65% for postal votes.
The figure is marginally down on last year when it was 33.97%.
Green Party Julie Howell (Green Party/Orton Waterville)I am very confident, I expect there to be about 60/70% for me but I expect Conservatiave gains tonight. People who would usually vote Conservative but have decided not to vote still only helps the Conservatives.
Group leader Shaz Nawaz (Labour/Park ward)Our candidates have worked incredibly hard - we’ve got the message out. It’s been a slightly lower turnout than usual but it’s been a very good day and I’m hoping for good result tonight.
Deputy council leader Steve Allen (Conservative/Eye, Thorney and Newborough ward)It’s been very busy from an early start right through until just before the polls closed we’ve been at it around various areas of Peterborough, specifically from my point of view in Eye, Thorney and Newborough, but of course mutual aid means we help everywhere.
