Landmark Great Haddon development in Peterborough could face another setback

The development was due to deliver 5,350 homes, four schools and further facilities close to the A1M and A15 but has been beset by delays.

Next week, Peterborough City Council’s planning committee will decide whether to give planning consent to developers O & H Properties and Marlborough Oasis to begin works, but officers do not want Barratt Homes (which is due to deliver 647 of the homes) to receive permission to develop until it sets out the money it will provide for infrastructure on the site (known as a Section 106 Agreement).

The council said Barratt does not want to sign the Section 106 until it enters a ‘collaboration agreement’ with O & H so they can access the “roads, services and electricity” on the O & H land. So far, O & H has not entered the agreement.

The council believes it is “extremely likely” the Barratt land will end up being developed in the future.

North West Cambridgeshire MP Shailesh Vara said: “The current impasse has gone on for far too long.

The local community need certainty and I very much hope that the forthcoming meeting will lead to some resolution as to the way forward.”
