Electoral register canvass to take place in Peterborough

The annual electoral register canvass is conducted every year to ensure that everyone who is entitled to vote in all types of elections is registered and able to do so.

From Monday (18 July 2016) the council will deliver a household enquiry form to every home in Peterborough.

It only takes a couple of minutes to confirm the details on the form. If all the information is still correct, you can reply through one of the following options:

• Post your signed form back in the pre-paid envelope

• Complete the form on the internet using the security codes on the form

• Call the automated telephone number (quoting your security codes)

• Text the automated service (quoting your security codes)

If the information that is shown on your form has changed, then you can do one of the following options:

• Change the details by crossing through/or adding individuals to the form, sign and send back in the pre-paid envelope

• Change the details on the internet using the security codes provided on your form

Rachel Parnell, electoral services manager for Peterborough City Council, said: “We are required by law to carry out the annual canvass so that we can ensure as many people as possible have the chance to vote when an election is held. Please also remember to include anyone in your home who is aged 16 or 17 as we can register them on our system ready for when they turn 18.”

Residents are asked to confirm their details by Friday 12 August. If you don’t then a council officer will visit to collect the information.
