Long-awaited works on 'unfinished' and 'inaccessible' roads and footpaths on Peterborough street set to go ahead

As series of works to make improvements to footpaths in Manor Drive in Peterborough are set to begin.

Residents of Manor Drive has expressed their disappointment at a number of unfinished roads on the estate, raising concerns about safety, access and the general condition of the roadway.

The footpath, which connects Arkwright Way to Brooker Avenue, has been a source of concern for local residents for several years, with repeated calls for it to be addressed.

Construction is scheduled to begin in the first week of March and is expected to take approximately eight weeks to complete.

Following discussions with concerned residents, Andrew Macfarlaine has been among those to contact developers Keepmoat to push for answers and for the works to be undertaken.

He said: “This has been an issue that residents have been living with for far too long.

“I’ve been contacted by many people who just want to see the road finished properly. I’m pleased that we now have a confirmed start date and a timeline in place.”

Gunthorpe ward councillor Sandra Bond added: “We are very pleased to see that these works are going ahead. The Brooker Avenue to Arkwright Way issue has been ongoing for about 18 months now. We have also been lobbying Peterborough City Council and Keepmoat to get together over this.”
