7 community projects in the Ortons benefit from Pride in Place funding for Peterborough
Seven community projects in the Ortons have benefitted so far this year from Pride in Place funding in Peterborough.
A host of projects in Orton Malborne and Orton Goldhay have benefitted from the Summer Grants Fund, which was established to support community-led projects that deliver visible local improvements, strengthen communities and contribute to the priorities of the Pride in Place programme.
A total funding pot of £50,000 was made available by Peterborough City Council and so far £17,209 have been given away.
The pot is available as part of a wider major investment in communities across Peterborough. Last year, the government selected Peterborough to receive up to £40 million of Pride in Place funding to support regeneration in the city.

Half of this money will go towards Paston, Gunthorpe and Welland while the other half will go towards Orton Malborne and Orton Goldhay.
The funding gives these two communities control of up to £2 million every year for the next 10 years.
Neighbourhood boards have been established for both communities in order to ensure that the projects are locally led and demonstrate transparent, inclusive and accountable decision making.
Projects supported by the Summer Grants Funding Pot (£50,000 available)
- Arts & Play Workshops, Peterborough Together Project / Wild Art (£450)
Families took part in painting, tissue-paper art, pebble decoration, collaborative artwork and glass painting. The workshops provided a relaxed community setting where children, parents and carers could participate together and connect with other local families.
Approximately 100 adults and children benefited and four volunteers supported delivery.
- Orton Tae Kwon Do Summer Project, Juinn Tang (4,907)
The project delivered traditional ITF-style Tae Kwon Do sessions at Orton Wistow Community Centre. Two sessions per day were provided, with a fun session for younger children and a fuller lesson for participants aged nine and above.
The initial programme ran from 18 to 28 August 2026, with 32 attendances over eight days.
- Summer Holiday Sports Camps (£1,500)
Four October half-term workshops at Winyates Primary School
- Orton Goldhay Community Tai Chi and Wellbeing Programme (£1,692)
- Young Parents Summer Outing (£2,000)
Funding is being used for a Christmas Family Activity for Young Parents.
- Drop-in Service for People with Learning Disabilities (£4,740)
Goldhay Arts Centre. Delivery was originally intended to start in October. Following significant rain damage to the charity’s premises, including the kitchen, group room and toilets, the start was postponed to November while repairs are undertaken.
The organisation intends to extend delivery to April so that the planned six months of activity can still be provided.
- Secondary Education Maths and English Support (£1,920)
Funding was approved for eight weeks of delivery, with an initial 50% payment covering the first four weeks. Release of the remaining funding is subject to review of uptake and impact. The applicant was also asked to contact schools to ensure the project complements rather than duplicates existing provision.
Grant payments were structured in two instalments: 50% in advance of delivery and the remaining 50% on receipt of a brief project report.
