Police officer hospitalised during manhunt after attempted murder in Cambridgeshire

A Cambridgeshire police officer was hospitalised and two more assaulted trying to apprehend a man suspected of attempted murder yesterday, Tuesday March 22.

Officers attended Sackville Way, outside Cambourne Police Station, at around 9.20pm after hearing screams in the street.

The victim, a woman in her 40s, suffered serious but not life threatening injuries after being attacked and was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge.

The offender made off and was pursued by officers, during which three were assaulted, resulting in one receiving minor injuries and being taken to Hinchingbrooke Hospital in Huntingdon.

A 36-year-old man from Bedford was arrested near to the Caxton services on suspicion of attempted murder, however he was taken ill at the scene and transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for treatment.

He has since been taken to Parkside Police Station in Cambridge where he remains.
