Areas of Peterborough and surrounding villages have been badly hit by flooding after torrential rain hit Cambridgeshire yesterday (December 23).

Heavy rain bombarded the city, closing off Bourges Boulevard, as well as sections of the A47 and A1 yesterday.

This also left many residents dealing with flooding in their homes, leaving Christmas presents and furniture ruined right on the eve of the big day.

Apart from the city centre, the worst hit areas include villages on the outskirts of the city including Ramsey, Sawtry and Glatton. With some residents having to spend the night in hotels or community centres that have been converted into community support hubs.

Below are some pictures of the area that have been badly affected.
