Petition calls for speed bumps on Bourges Boulevard
A petition has called for speed bumps to be installed on Bourges Boulevard to keep children safe.
The petition will be handed to Peterborough City Council’s cabinet on Tuesday, October 27.
While speed bumps on Bourges Boulevard might bring some motorists out in a cold sweat, drivers shouldn’t worry too much - it is not the main, dual carriageway running through the city centre and beyond, but a side road - which is still called Bourges Boulevard - running parallel to the main road.
The petition calls for bumps to be placed in the road ‘ from Najib’s Food Store to Occupation Road’ because of speeding traffic.
A total of 64 signatures - of which 59 are described as ‘valid’ by Peterborough City Council - have been received.
The petition reads: “We the undersigned wish to petition Peterborough City Council for the removal of the recently installed yellow lines on Bourges Boulevard. Also we would like speed bumps installed along the road from Najib’s Food Store to Occupation Road because on many occasions we are aware of speeding traffic. This is of great concern as there is 2 parks and 1 school on Bourges Boulevard.”
Members of the cabinet will be asked to vote on the plans - although if they vote in favour of the proposals, it doesn’t necessarily mean the proposals will go ahead - but officers could be asked to investigate the plans.
The Cabinet meeting will take place on October 27 at 4pm. You can read the full agenda at https://democracy.peterborough.gov.uk/ieListDocuments.aspx?CId=116&MId=5408
