When your Peterborough bins will be collected over the New Year week

We are well into that time of the Christmas break when many of us will not know what the day or date is.

The ‘Chrimbo limbo’ as it is called be some, can especially be confusing when you are trying to work out when to put the – no doubt overflowing – bins out, with various bank holidays changing the schedule.

Four different types of bins are collected in Peterborough, including black bins for general waste, grey bins for food waste, green bins for recycling waste and an optional service of brown bins for garden waste.

This week, if your bin was due to be collected on Tuesday, December 30 or Wednesday, December 31, collections are unchanged.

If your bin was set to be collected on Thursday, January 1, that collection has been changed to Friday, January 2.

If your bin was due to be collected on Friday, January 2, it has been changed to Saturday, January 3.

Residents can report a missed bin collection online after 5pm on their collection day.

They have until 4pm the next working day after a scheduled collection to let the council know.

The last garden waste collection is on December 12 and these will restart from January 13.

Peterborough City Council has urged residents to continue to put their bins out by 6.45am on their revised collection days.

Household, recycling and food waste collections will all return to normal on January 6.
