Umami World Kitchen: Everything we know so far about the new all-you-can-eat buffet 'with 100 dishes' opening in Peterborough’s Queensgate Centre

Excitement is building ahead of the opening of Peterborough’s new pan-Asian all-you-can-eat buffet, with signage teasing diners inside the city’s Queensgate Shopping Centre.

Umami World Kitchen, owned by the Cosmo Restaurant Group, is set to open inside the Queensgate Centre over the coming months.

The all-you-can-eat buffet operator has signed a 15-year lease on a 7,064 sq ft unit at the centre, positioned alongside key anchors Putt & Play and ODEON.

Umami already has restaurants in Blackpool, Middlesbrough and Telford.

In early February, parent company Peterborough QC Capital Ltd applied for a licence to sell alcohol and provide entertainment.

What sort of food will be served at Umami?

The food on offer at Umami has been described as pan-Asian, blending casual dining with bold flavours.

Diners will be able to choose from over 100 dishes drawn from multiple cuisines, including Chinese, Italian, Indian, and Malaysian.

The concept will include a mix of family-friendly favourites alongside street food, and a teppanyaki station for made-to-order Japanese dishes.

Guests can also enjoy exciting Chef’s Specials from Monday to Saturday for continued variety, as well as a traditional Sunday carvery.

When will Umami be opening?

While the opening date for the new buffet has not been confirmed, diners shouldn’t have to wait too long to try Umami for themselves.

Signage teasing the restaurant’s opening has been present inside Queensgate’s leisure section for several weeks.

In late February Catherine Lambert, Centre Director at Queensgate Shopping Centre, said: “Welcoming Umami World Kitchen is another exciting step forward in the continued evolution of Queensgate.

“As we strengthen our food and leisure offering, it’s important that every new addition brings something distinctive and high quality to the centre, and Umami does exactly that.

“Positioned alongside ODEON and Putt & Play, it will enhance our all-day, all-evening appeal, giving visitors even more reasons to spend time with us.

“We’re focused on creating a destination that blends retail, dining and entertainment seamlessly, and Umami is a fantastic fit for that vision.”

The signing of Umami follows the landmark arrival of FRASERS at Queensgate, which opened its flagship store in December 2025.
