Supermarket chain Aldi to create 50 jobs after multi-million pound Peterborough store gets green light

Up to 50 jobs will be created after a supermarket chain secured the go ahead to open its fifth store in Peterborough.

Aldi has secured approval to build a multi-million pound store at Peterborough One Retail Park,in Eye Road, Dogsthorpe,

The 1,315 square metre store is expected to open next year and will bring up to 50 jobs to the city.

The plans for the store, which is earmarked for a vacant site, were approved by Peterborough City Council on Friday (Jul 10).

The exact cost of construction of the store has not been disclosed.

It will be Aldi’s fifth store in Peterborough and brings the company’s capital investment in the city to £30 million and which has created a total of 250 jobs.

Under the terms of the planning approval there will also be a payment to the council of £30,000 for footpath works and landscaping.

The store will operate seven days a week from 8am to 10pm Mondays to Saturdays and 10am to 6pm on Sundays.

The new store would provide 131 car parking spaces and cycle parking spaces.

Its other stores are at Whittlesey Road, Stanground, Flaxland, Bretton, Brickburn Close, Hampton and Maskew Retail Park.
