The Diana Award was set up in honour of the Princess of Wales to bring about positive change for young people through mentoring and anti-bullying initiatives.

Since March 2019, Queen Katharine Academy has been promoting this and has student anti-bullying ambassadors who run campaigns to tackle bullying throughout the school year.

The academy received the ‘Community Action’ badge for their work reaching the wider school community by sharing tips to identify and support those experiencing bullying through the academy’s social media platforms, school newsletter and trust-wide magazine.

Lynn Mayes, principal at Queen Katharine Academy, said: “We are absolutely delighted to have received the Community Action badge. Both our staff and students are passionate about raising awareness of bullying and dedicated to educating and encouraging all our students to be the best and kindest version of themselves.

“This year, we have focused on spreading this ethos to our wider community.

“I am so proud of everyone for their efforts and it is great to receive such positive feedback from the Diana Award.”
