The stand-up stars you can see at three-night comedy festival in Peterborough

Household names from the world of stand-up are coming to a comedy festival in Peterborough later this year.

The likes of Seann Walsh, Marcus Brigstocke and Ed Byrne will be performing at the festival on December 3, 4 and 5 at the East of England Arena and Events Centre. The Clever Monkee Comedy Festival opens with Marcus Brigstocke, Sara Barron and Chris McCausland taking to the stage. The second night features Daliso Chaponda, Jen Brister and Ed Byrne, and the final night welcomes Seann Walsh, Desiree Burch and Hal Cruttenden. Comedian, compère and MC for all three nights, Alistair Barrie, explains how the festival came about: “I have earned the princely sum of £150 from live comedy since the start of lockdown, I have traded working for 20 minutes an evening as a comedian for the role of stay at home dad working 24/7. I was supposed to be playing the New Zealand Comedy Festival, Glastonbury and the Edinburgh Festival so I was desperate to get back on stage as were many of my peers, organising a comedy festival with a bunch of friends and a group of amazing comedians sounded like a great idea. It was, and here we are launching the Clever Monkee Comedy Festival, a three-night festival of comedy with a brilliant line-up of talent at the East of England Arena.” The event will be Covid 19 secure with social distancing measures in place, and numbers are limited to 750 for each performance. Tickets are £29.50 per person for each of the three nights and are available from www.eventbrite.co.uk/.
