Recruitment under way to find 1,400 staff for new Amazon warehouse in Peterborough
Recruitment is still under way to find hundreds of people to work in a new Amazon centre in Peterborough.
The internet retailer is looking to hire 1,400 people to operate its planned new One Distribution Centre, which is intended to quicken deliveries to customers.
The centre will be based in a warehouse just metres from its main fulfilment centre at Kingston Park, Flaxley Road, where it already employs more than 1,000 people.
A spokesperson for Amazon said: “Recruitment for our new centre in Peterborough is still ongoing.”

The online giant is looking to to hire staff such as engineers, HR and IT professionals, health and safety, and finance specialists.
The new centre is expected to open in late September this year.
The One Distribution Centre will be Amazon’s first in the UK and will store products from suppliers and will be able to rapidly replenish its fulfilment centres.
The new 690,000 square foot facility will cost £107 million to build.
Amazon says the investment represents its commitment to the region.
The First One Distribution Centre will store products from suppliers and will be used to rapidly replenish Fulfilment Centres across the UK in a move that is expected to cut out processing steps and speed up deliveries to customers.
The site is part of Amazon's £40 billion UK investment plan for 2025–2027.
A spokesperson for the firm said in addition to competitive pay, all employees at the centre will be offered a comprehensive benefits package including private medical insurance, life assurance, income protection, subsidised meals and an employee discount, which combined are worth thousands of pounds annually, as well as a company pension plan.
