Public Health England adjust Peterborough Covid-19 test figures following yesterday’s spike

Public Health England have adjusted figures which showed a massive spike in positive COVID-19 tests in Peterborough yesterday.

Yesterday the figures, published on the Government website, indicated there ad been 60 positive cases in just one day - while in the previous seven days there had been a total of just 12. Yesterday’s figures indicated a total of 499 positive tests had been recorded in the city.

However, the latest figures, published today, show that a number of those positive tests have been removed from the records.

The total number now recorded in Peterborough throughout the pandemic now stands at 441 - a rise of just two since Monday.

The Peterborough Telegraph has contacted the NHS Cambridgeshire and Peterborough CCG, who were dealing with test results for a comment on the reduction.

Since May 25 there have been a total of 45 positive tests in Peterborough.

Caroline Walker, Chief Executive, for North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust, said there had been a total of 234 deaths at Peterborough City and Hinchingbrooke Hospitals during the pandemic. She said: “I can confirm that sadly, 234 patients being cared for in our Trust have passed away since we began reporting Covid-19-related deaths. There have been 94 at Hinchingbrooke Hospital and 140 at Peterborough City Hospital. All patients were aged 30 to 98 years old and had pre-existing health conditions. They had all tested positive for Covid-19.

“In the same period we have also successfully discharged 465 patients from our hospitals who were treated for Covid-19 and who are now recovering.

“Our thoughts and condolences remain with the patient’s family and loved ones at this difficult time.”
