Proms concert in Whittlesey raises £3,000 for charities

Almost 200 people turned out for a The Last Night of the Proms held at the Whittlesey Indoor Bowls Complex.

The Band of the Royal Air Force, Wyton Voluntary Band was led by Bandmaster Graham Sheldon and they gave everyone present a spectacular evening, finishing with a rousing rendition of Land of Hope and Glory.

In attendance were the Mayor of Whittlesey, Julie Windall, Guy Adams from the Soldier, Sailor and Air Force charity and Richard Hunt, President of Whittlesey Rotary Club. Jim Saunders from the Hugh Crane company aided Don McCarthy from The Bowls Club in setting everything up.

Around £3,000 was raised for the SSAFA charity and Rotary local charities, and included a generous donation of £1,000 from D & L Groundworks, Whittlesey.
