NDG Artificial Intelligence Ltd (NDGAI), which has been set up by Peterborough entrepreneur Nigel Gittins, has been awarded the funding to develop new technology to aid the under-pressure care sector.

The investment from Innovate UK will fund a prototype, called RoutifAI, which will be a vital part of NDGAI’s first artificially intelligent product, OptifAI, which was launched earlier this year.

OptifAI is designed to automatically calculate the scheduling of care worker visits to patients while also helping to improve productivity and profitability.

Mr Gittins said: “This is an exciting but busy time for the team at NDGAI.

“The product will make a profound difference to the healthcare sector, and we cannot wait for the end result to launch.”

It means NDGAI will be first to provide an AI-technology to be used for route planning in the home care sector.

Mr Gittins said: “A limited number of available care staff means their time is precious.

“Current route planning methods are poor, resulting in unnecessary expenses and wasted time travelling. NDGAI’s solution will reduce travel time and mileage between each home care visit.

“This is fantastic news for the UK’s social care sector, which is under immense strain to deliver care to an increasingly growing aging population with limited funding. Austerity mean more care needs to be provided with less funding.”

“Technological advancements like this project will assist social care providers with servicing the market growth.”
