Peterborough-based developer, Barratt and David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire has recently donated some of its show home furniture to the Light Project Peterborough.
The donation of a sofa will go towards the charity’s Garden House, on Wheel Yard in Peterborough which opened in 2018. The Garden House is a drop-in centre for homeless people in the area to receive support in every aspect from haircuts to housing.

Steven Pettican CEO at Light Project Peterborough, said: “A big thank you to the team and Barratt and David Wilson for their kind donations. Every day we are helping people move off the streets into new homes and to keep their accommodation. At the Garden House we try to make the atmosphere as warm and friendly as possible to show folks who are sleeping on the streets they are loved and cared for. Keeping the Garden House in good order is a constant pressure and the support with funds and furniture from the team really helps us do this. Thank you”
Marketing Manager Luke Shepperson delivered the sofa personally to the charity and believes the donation will contribute to the excellent work the charity does. Luke said: “It was great to donate this furniture to the charity directly and meet the individuals that are working so hard to protect the community. Homelessness is prolific all over the world and it’s important to help combat these issues within our local area.”
Earlier in the year, the developer donated £1,000 to the Garden House Project via its Community Fund initiative.

Hide AdAdam Knight, Managing Director at Barratt and David Wilson Homes Cambridgeshire, said: “As a leading Peterborough developer, we strive to support local charities where we can. As well as our financial donations we can attribute to local charities, we are constantly looking for ways we can benefit the local communities directly.
“We hope that this donation of a new sofa should help the charity immediately. Unfortunately, not everyone in our society has access to the home comforts many of us take for granted and we believe Light Project Peterborough is doing incredible work to help our most vulnerable members of the community establish a safer and
more comfortable life.”
