Peterborough shopping centre raises £21,000 for local charities and groups

Throughout the year, the shopping centre held more than 30 events to raise funds for 19 different community groups, including the National Autistic Society’s Peterborough branch, Disability Peterborough and the East Anglian Air Ambulance Service.

One of its biggest fundraising challenges saw the team partner with the Access Champions to train and climb Mount Snowdon, raising more than £1,500 for the charity.

Other successful events included a drive-in cinema experience which raised more than £1,100 for Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice, and a poppy appeal which generated funds of £8,700 for the Peterborough branch of the Royal British Legion.

Jane Searle, centre administrator, said: “Our local community is so important to us and, as a team, we get so much from supporting local causes whether through fundraising, providing space at the centre, volunteering or in whatever way we can help.

“We’re so pleased with the amount we raised in 2019 and it’s great to hear the impact it makes when we speak to our community partners. We’re looking forward to the events we have planned for this year and continuing to support people across Peterborough.”
