Peterborough primary school ‘thrilled’ after glowing Ofsted report finds that pupils ‘enjoy warm, respectful relationships with staff’

The school achieved a ‘strong standard’ across three categories

A Peterborough primary school says it is “thrilled” after receiving a glowing Ofsted report in which inspectors found that pupils “enjoy warm, respectful relationships with staff”.

Oakdale Primary School, in Stanground, achieved a ‘strong standard’ across four categories, including attendance and behaviour, leadership and governance and inclusion during its inspection on February 24.

The new Ofsted ratings use a five-point, colour-coded scale across multiple areas to assess performance.

The school’s report, published yesterday (April 23), found that staff consider attendance a “top priority”, while maintaining “high expectations” of pupil behaviour.

Ofsted inspectors concluded that the school is meeting the ‘expected standard’ with achievement, curriculum and teaching and early years.

Oakdale Primary School currently has 407 pupils, with 16.46% requiring special educational needs (SEN) support.

Inspectors said that the school’s leaders should ensure that staff promote pupils’ progress and even higher achievement.

Commenting on the recent inspection, Oakdale Primary School’s headteacher Ilona Wrigley told the Peterborough Telegraph: “We are thrilled with the outcomes of our recent Inspection under the new framework.

“We achieved the strong standard in four areas, Attendance and Behaviour, Leadership and Governance, Personal Development and well- being, and Inclusion with all other areas rated at the Expected Standard demonstrating the high- quality education we are providing for our pupils.

“These high grades are due to the commitment and hard work of the whole team and support of the school community. We are all incredibly proud of our wonderful pupils who impressed the inspectors so much.”
