“My five-year-old daughter is a huge fan and we can’t wait to hear all about George and his family’s wonderful journey.”

The motion which will be read out in Parliament says: “That this House applauds the efforts of all the contestants in this year’s ITV’s the Voice Kids television programme; notes the tremendous talent the programme uncovered; congratulates the winner Justine Afante and all the finalists; further congratulates finalist George Elliott from Walton, Peterborough who has inspired a city; believes his mum Jodie, dad Karl, brother Jacob, and the people of Peterborough, have every reason to be proud of him; and wishes him well in his future as a new pupil at the Queen Katharine Academy and in all his musical endeavours.”

11-year-old George Elliott produced a fantastic performance in the final of The Voice Kids but was just beaten to the top prize by winner Justine Afante.

George and his family, from Walton, Peterborough, gathered to watch the pre-recorded final at the Post Office club on Bourges Boulevard on Sunday evening (August 29) already knowing that despite a fantastic performance he had just missed out on the top prize.

His mum Jodie said; “It’s been an amazing journey. It has gone over and above what we thought it would be. We’re so proud of George, especially for a kid with no experience and the other three finalists are the most amazing kids. They are all winners.”
