Peterborough Italian Community Association marks its 40th year with glittering ball attended by Italian Ambassador
A glittering 40th anniversary ball in Peterborough on Saturday attended by the Italian Ambassador has been called a ‘fantastic success’.
Hosted by Peterborough Mayor, Cllr Marco Cereste, the event marked 40 years of the Italian Community Association – Peterborough (ICA).
Inigo Lambertini – Ambassador of Italy to the UK, was in attendance, along with Consul General Domenico Bellantone and Consular Agent Carmela Cocozza.
The event was held at The Fleet, in Old Fletton, and featured a four-course dinner and live entertainment, including Italian singer Sergio Marinaro.

Cllr Cereste is believed to be one of the first people of Italian ethnicity to be elected Mayor of a British City. He said: “It was an absolutely fantastic event. The best event there has ever been at the ICA I think. Everybody loved it and it went on until the early hours of the morning.
"We were honoured to have the Ambassador and the Consul General – to get both at the same event was a real coup.”
He added: “The room looked amazing, the food was fantastic, and the wines were superb - as I chose them.”
The association hosts an annual anniversary ball each year – but this year was extra special, being the 40th year since its formation.

Dom D’Angelo, events manager for the ICA, commented: “It was a great night that saw everybody coming together. It was an opportunity to give back to the community that has supported the ICA for the last 40 years. We had lots of English people there too.
“The Italian chef Carmelo Carnevale came all the way from London, where he has his own restaurant, to provide the amazing food for everybody. It was a very special event.”
He added: “It is only possible to run these events due to the work of committee members, who do this all voluntarily.”
