Robert McKee has played in the Salvation Army, and the Peterborough Concert Bands for many years, and has played the Last Post at services in Peterborough and elsewhere on numerous occasions.

However, because of the lockdown, he was not able to attend the War Memorial in Bridge Street today for the Armistice commemorations.

Instead, Robert filmed himself playing the piece at home - and granddaughter Hope Middleton shared the footage with the Peterborough Telegraph.

Robert said: "I feel this year of all years has been the most important, there has been so much sadness this year with lockdown and COVID-19.

"I wanted to be able to still do something for remembrance day so I could pay my respects to those who fought for us to be here today.

"Today should have been a day of togetherness in Peterborough City Centre, but we are together in spirit, and that’s the most important thing. We will remember them, no matter how we do it, we will never forget what they sacrificed for us to be here today”.
