Peterborough fire crews make a splash for charity at car wash

Firefighters made a splash for charity by hosting a car wash to raise money for a good cause.

The crews at Stanground Fire Station held the event on Saturday, with queues of cars lining up outside the station, despite the heavy autumn rain.

Watch Commander Matt House, one of the organisers, said: “Despite the downpour throughout the day, the community came out in force to support our car wash and help raise money for charity.

“We raised an impressive £1774.24 and also received some kind donations of sweet treats and handmade snacks to keep the crew going throughout the event. A number of local businesses, including A2B eurocars, Dominos, Tesco, Thor Car Parts and Accessories and Travis Perkins also supported the car wash, which we’re really grateful for.

“We know lots of local residents have been disappointed they haven’t been able to visit the station this summer due to the ongoing pandemic, so it was great so many people were able to stop by for the car wash.

“The money raised will be donated to The Fire Fighters Charity, who provide support, rehabilitation and care for fire service personnel across the country.”
