A number of civic dignitaries have been invited to witness a ribbon cutting ceremony at 8am shoppers are welcomed inside the store.

The opening will also be celebrated with support from some well-known suppliers including Kellogg’s, Cadbury, Nestle and Red Bull.

Mr Thievanayagam, who also runs stores in Stilton, Stanground, Belsize Avenue, Peterborough, Fletton, Orton Malborne and St Neots, bought the site, which had been derelict for five years, in January with construction delayed by the Covid-19 lockdown.

He said: “We are really excited to be opening to doors on Friday and especially pleased to have completed the project on time in light of all the extra challenges faced because of Coronavirus.

“I hope the store will be a hit with the community.
