Peterborough dog owners warned over algae which could kill pets which has appeared at city park

A spokesman for Nene Park Trust said blue-green algae had appeared in water in the city.

The algae can be fatal for dogs, and cause irritation, including rashes, to humans.

A spokesman for the trust tweeted: “Please be aware that blue-green algae has emerged at #OrtonMere, this is very harmful to dogs so please keep them away from the water. The lakes at #FerryMeadows are currently clear but please remain cautious during the summer months.”
