Peterborough charity donates wellbeing packs to parent carers

Families in Peterborough impacted by the coronavirus pandemic will benefit from the generosity of a food processing business owned by Asda’s parent company.

International Procurement & Logistics Limited has pledged to provide fresh vegetables including potatoes and onions to help local families eat healthily.

The produce has been donated to charity Family Voice Peterborough which will distribute it to families with children and young people who have special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Family Voice has been providing food packages across the city throughout the pandemic and has been putting together wellbeing packs for parent carers.

Those packs have begun being distributed across Peterborough this week, ahead of Carers Rights Day on Thursday, November 26.

The charity’s chief operating officer Louise Ravenscroft said: “We are delighted to be supported by IPL which is providing us with fresh produce to enable local families affected by the current pandemic to eat healthily.”

IPL was formed in 2004, beginning with delivery of grapes and stone fruit before expanding its portfolio.

Its Peterborough site handles all of its house plants and cut flowers, while its potato and onion factory is based at Westry in March and packs all of Asda’s onions and potatoes, working directly with growers across East Anglia.

It was purchased in 2009 by Asda which is owned by Walmart.
