‘No dad should do life alone’ – New social and support group launched for Peterborough dads
Organisers are looking to create a ‘community where dads can find friendship, support and people they can genuinely talk to’
A new community initiative which aims to bring isolated dads in and around Peterborough together has been launched.
‘Dad’s Do’ is a not-for-profit socialising and support group which runs monthly events where dads can enjoy some quality downtime in the company of like-minded fathers.
The initiative was set up by Daisy and Andy Wright, who welcomed their first child earlier this year. The couple say the concept of ‘Dad’s Do’ was brought about by the rapid realisation that there were very few socialising and support options available locally for fathers.

‘We welcomed our first child in May 2026 and very quickly realised there wasn't anything local for dads,” said Daisy.
The couple quickly set about running monthly events that dads could come along to free of charge.
“Our first event was a fantastic success with over 30 men attending Dad's Do X Football in August,” Daisy said.
“This was a free event for Dads to come along, meet, move and connect with other dads, step-dads, grandads and any dad in-between.”

Daisy explained that Dad’s Do events are platforms for father figures across the region to access greater empathy, understanding and companionship:
“Our aim isn't simply to organise events,” Daisy noted. ”We want to create a community where dads can find friendship, support and people they can genuinely talk to.”
The couple’s most recent social gathering was a free pool and snooker evening in Bretton on Friday September 11, which was another well-attended event: “It’s lovely to have loads of dads from all over come together having a laugh and generally having a chat raising awareness for men’s mental health and just creating new bonds and friendships," said one of the dads who went along.
As well as offering in-person events, Daisy and Andy have also set up a Dads Do X Gaming channel for those who are unable to attend events but enjoy gaming and virtual companionship.
"We are building a community and so far have extended it not only to meet-ups but online chat with a gaming channel, a general chat channel and now a fantasy football channel,” Daisy said.
“This is just as important to us to explore all avenues to bring dads together, whether virtually, in person or just a chat.” The industrious mother and wife is also looking to explore other potential socialising arenas:
"We are also currently in talks for a games night including dungeons and dragons and Warhammer,” she revealed.
Daisy said the couple’s aim now is to grow the group and raise awareness of its presence:
“We're now looking to spread the word... so that any dad who needs a community knows that Dad’s Do is there,” she said. “We would love to share what we are doing with the dads of Peterborough and across East Anglia as we strongly believe that no dad should do life alone.”
