Awarded by The Green Organisation, it recognises the centre’s contribution towards the local community, environment and charities.

Projects that secured the centre its award include its Sailability Event, though which staff volunteers contribute their time to help those with disabilities enjoy sailing, its Christmas Gift Tree for families in need, its Enabled Event to support those with disabilities, their carer’s and families at Christmas, its Sensory Room to help families and those with disabilities, and Westgate Arcade where a unit is offered to a local business or charity, as well as its tree planting, wild meadow and its Bug Hotel.

In addition, the centre also regularly donates items to charities and food banks, organises staff health MOTs and work exclusively with local charities on an annual basis, which include festive fundraising events.

Carol Wakelin, Queensgate’s Environmental Manager, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have been recognised internationally for our work at Queensgate Shopping Centre.
