Mystery solved! Burghley House stars in new series of popular Netflix thriller after April closure for film crews
The 16th-century country house closed over Easter for filming
Burghley House is set to star in the latest series of a popular Netflix thriller this autumn, with the 16th-century country house having already appeared in a teaser trailer.
Fans of Netflix’s The Diplomat will recognise scenes featuring the Grade I listed house when series four is released on October 15.
Eagle-eyed viewers may have already noticed Burghley House appearing in Netflix’s trailer for the new series, with an aerial shot of the house appearing as the opening shot.

The trailer has now been viewed more than 300,000 times on YouTube after its release earlier this week.
Rumours of Burghley House’s involvement in the new series began circulating earlier this year after it closed for filming.
The House and wider site closed on Tuesday, March 31, before reopening on Saturday, April 4.
The new series, starring Keri Russell and Rufus Sewell, has been one of Netflix’s most successful original dramas over recent years.

The show focuses on an American diplomat who juggles her new high-profile job as ambassador to the United Kingdom and her turbulent marriage.
This isn’t the first time Burghley House has been used as a filming location, with the 16th-century building previously appearing in films such as The Da Vinci Code, Oscar winner Frankenstein, and Pride & Prejudice.
