Man jailed for controlling prostitution at property in Peterborough

A man has been jailed for his part in running a Peterborough property used for sex work.

Police say that Soon Chin (49) was arrested when officers visited the property in London Road following reports of concern that a woman was being sexually exploited.

A spokesperson for Cambridgeshire police said: “Inside the property officers found evidence of sex work, including signs detailing prices, multiple used condoms and other associated items.

"Chin, of London Road, was linked to a mobile phone at the address that had been used as part of online adverts and to liaise with people visiting the property.”

Police say that Chin admitted controlling prostitution for gain and was jailed for 10 months at Huntingdon Magistrates’ Court on July 25.

Afterwards, DC Steph Barnes-Dunlop said: “Chin was clearly involved in running this operation to use the property for sex work.

“This kind of activity is widely associated with exploitation, with women and girls forced to perform sexual acts for others to profit from.

He added: “We’re determined to do all we can to tackle exploitation in all its forms and bring people to justice who seek to prey on others for their own financial gain.”
