Images of a unique year in Peterborough

Peterborough - as with much of the world - has had a year like no other in 2020, as coronavirus struck.

From the spring, when residents took to their doorsteps, balconies and gardens to Clap for Carers, as businesses and facilities - including The Lido - remained closed - to earlier in December, when the first vaccinations against the virus took place at the city hospital, coronavirus has never been far from the headlines.

But there have been other major stories in the city this year too - from the incredible scenes on Bourges Boulevard when a burst water main left the main road flooded, to the Cathedral Square Black Lives Matter protests.

Sacrifices of the past were remembered with socially distanced street parties to mark the 75th anniversary of VE day, and a more sombre service held on Remembrance Day in the city centre.

We also said a good bye to iconic Peterborough personalities Michael Ross - better known as Nobby - and Posh legend Tommy Robson.

And there were personal moments of celebration with special birthdays, young George Elliott reaching the final of talent show The Voice: Kids and a heart transplant for young Grayson Heagren.
