The holiday industry has taken a battering during Covid with restrictions leaving people unable to travel.

Chief executive Steve Bentzen said: “The industry feels much more optimistic after the Prime Minister’s roadmap announcement.”

Although under the Government’s roadmap, foreign holidays will not be allowed until May 17 at the earliest, it does provide the industry with a target day for a revival.

Plans to launch Sunny Heart Travel were first unveiled last September when the business had just five staff.

Those plans were put on hold when the second national lockdown was enforced.

The company’s name refers to the famous heart logo used by former holiday giant Thomas Cook, which employed about 1,000 people at its head office in Lynch Wood before it collapsed in 2019.
