Peterborough travel operator creates jobs as holiday hopes grow
An online tour operator in Peterborough is shrugging off the holiday industry decline and looking to recruit staff ahead of its official launch.
Sunny Heart Travel, which was set up five months ago between lockdowns, is hopeful of a rapid bounce back for the industry after its battering by Covid enforced travel restrictions.
Now the business, which had been all set to launch last September with five employees, is looking to recruit four sales advisors and hopes to start operations later this month.
Co-founder Steve Bentzen said: “We are currently recruiting for four homeworker Sales Advisors, so we would love to hear from anyone with travel sales experience whether in retail or contact centre.
He said: “We postponed our September launch once the second Covid wave arrived and we took the opportunity to improve our website.
“We now have a super quick search engine which means that when you enter your holiday dates and destination, the result is almost instant. This takes the whole booking experience to another level.
“We are planning to launch in February as long as the conditions look favourable.
“Hopefully we won’t have to meet on Zoom for too much more of 2021.
“It’s predicted it could six to eight more weeks before travel opens up, and that would be perfect timing for us.”
He added: “We have seen a global expansion of our business contacts to the point where we have assembled a huge number of hotel partners in many holiday destinations.
“They are providing us with some great offers for launch, with huge savings on hotel costs which we can pass on to our customers.”
Mr Bentzen, a former IT project manager with Thomas Cook, created Sunny Heart Travel with former Thomas Cook IT project manager Jemma Sharman, who is chief information officer.
