A Huntingdon woman was joined by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren to celebrate her 102nd birthday last weekend.

Freda Smith, who lives at the Bayleaf Care Home in Huntingdon, says she still feels “so well” after reaching the milestone.

Born on July 12, 1924, Freda celebrated her birthday in style by being joined by her family, fellow residents and care home staff.

She and her guests enjoyed a special cake made by the home’s head chef Stephane Roqueta.

“Katie Wilkinson, General Manager of Bayleaf Care Home, said: “We’re delighted to get the opportunity to acknowledge a truly remarkable woman as she celebrates 102 amazing years.

“Freda is such a popular resident who always has an interesting tale to tell, and we look forward to hearing many more.

“We have a few more surprises for Freda over the next couple of days and cannot wait to see her reaction.”

Speaking of the day, Freda said: “I have had a wonderful day with my family all here with me. I never thought that I would celebrate being 102 and yet I still feel so well and so young.”
