Huntingdon train stabbing: Crowdfunder set up for hero rail worker Samir Zitouni who risked own life to protect passengers during knife attack
A fundraiser set up to support the hero rail worker who saved lives during the mass stabbing on a LNER train in Huntingdon has raised over £15,000 in just TWO days.
Samir Zitouni was left fighting for his life after attempting to shield passengers during the knife attack on Saturday, November 1.
CCTV footage from the train is said to show Mr Zitouni risking his own life by confronting the attacker on the train as it travelled between Peterborough and Huntingdon.
Following his act of bravery, Samir was left seriously injured and rushed to Addenbrookes Hospital in a critical condition, where he is said to now be in a stable condition.

The 48 year-old, known to many as Sam, has been a valued member of the LNER team for over 20-years, working onboard as a Customer Experience Host.
Now some of his colleagues past and present have created a crowdfunding campaign to support Sam and his family.
Former colleague Gemma Royce, who set up the GoFundMe page with volunteers from the charity UPSPOKEN, said: “We are raising funds for one of the kindest and most selfless people you could ever meet - “Sam” our HERO.
“I have previously had the privilege of working alongside Sam, and anyone who knows him will tell you he is an incredible person, always kind, always helpful, and always putting others before himself.
“Sam showed unimaginable courage when he risked his own life to protect others during a terrifying incident, saving lives - including that of a 14-year-old girl. He is now in critical condition in hospital, and his family are by his side.”
“This GoFundMe has been set up to support Sam and his family during this unimaginably difficult time, to help cover any expenses, ease their worries, and allow them to focus solely on Sam’s recovery.”
“Let’s come together to support a true hero who gave everything to protect others.”
Along with more than 700 donations, the fundraising page has attracted a number of comments in support.
One supporter wrote: “Sam is a true hero and really deserves all the support we can provide. Hoping he makes a full recovery,” another commented: “Thank you for your incredible bravery, for saving lives.”
One of Samir’s colleagues, Ethan Woodard, also contacted us to say: “It would be great to see the whole city get behind the man that undoubtedly saved countless lives last weekend.”
